Visit the Dentist Before Age 1

That’s right, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry jointly with the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a child’s first dental visit by the age of one. More than 1 in 4 children in the United States have cavities by the time they are 4 years old. Early visits to the dentist provide valuable education to decrease a child’s risk factors for early childhood cavities.

Baby Teeth Are Important

Yes, they do fall out, but they have lots of purposes before they do. Things such as chewing, speech, and forming a path for adult teeth to follow are just a few. Baby teeth also encourage normal development of the jaw bones and muscles. Start visiting the dentist at age one! Baby teeth are important to your child’s present and future dental health.

Mouth Guards are Essential for Sports

Sports-related dental injuries account for up to 40% of all dental injuries amongst children each year. Football, Lacrosse, Soccer and Baseball are just a few of the sports where mouth guards are essential. Make sure your little athlete sports one to protect their teeth.

Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Toni Hacek Russo, DMD

Dr. Toni is board-certified, an active member in local and national pediatric dental associations, and enjoys community outreach.She is very excited to be serving the community of Enfield and its surrounding towns. A native of Chicago, she grew up playing “dentist” in her family’s kitchen pantry and had a close cousin who influenced her career choice. During college, she landed a job with a pediatric dentist in Chicago who introduced her to a career that she would eventually become very passionate about.

After finishing undergraduate studies at Loyola University Chicago, she attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, she specialized in pediatric dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago for two years.

She currently lives in Longmeadow, MA. She enjoys spending time with her 2 kids, running, traveling, and playing with her family’s black lab, Franklin.

The ideal time for your child’s first visit to our office is around the age of one or at the time of eruption of their first tooth. During your child’s first visit, we will evaluate the development of your child’s mouth, review how to care for teeth and gums, and educate you on possible harmful habits.

Thursday 7:50 am – 5pm
Friday 7:50 am – 12pm

We ask that you please schedule a morning visit for our littlest patients (under 5) and for those patients requiring restorative (filling) appointments with nitrous oxide.
